The duo’s name is inspired by the music studio in downtown Boston where its members teach music privately and rehearse together - Studio 44. Ajda Snyder, on flute and voice, is a vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, and a Berklee College of Music graduate. She performs regularly around the Boston area with various ensembles, including her own original rock band, in which she plays several instruments and is the primary songwriter. Ajda is an award-winning member of the American Society of Composers, Arrangers, and Publishers, and also teaches contemporary voice lessons. Kathleen McDougald-Lee, on piano, is a graduate of Longy School of Music, taught music in Boston public schools for 32 years, and currently teaches piano. Kathleen is a member of the American Guild of Organists, and remains active as an organist at various Boston-area churches, at some of which she has served as musical director. An eclectic musician, she also plays Early Music on harpsichord, performing concerts with her group Ensemble 44.
